Google Drive OAuth: A Simpler Way to Bring Your Docs Into Vectorize

Until now, integrating Google Drive with your Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines in Vectorize required setting up a service account. That used to be the only option – not anymore!

We’re introducing Google Drive (OAuth) — a more convenient, user-friendly connector that lets you pull files directly from your Drive with just a few clicks. No service accounts. No manual file sharing. Just a streamlined path from your documents to a working pipeline.

What’s New

With the OAuth-based Google Drive connector, you can now authenticate using your personal Google account. That means:

  • No need to share files with a service account
  • A simple, interactive file picker built into the Vectorize UI
  • Real-time sync as your Drive files change

This is especially useful if you’re experimenting with Vectorize on your own, setting up pipelines for different clients, or onboarding new users in a shared workspace.

From Connector to Pipeline, Fast

Here’s how it works:

  1. Head to Source Connectors in the UI and create a new connector.
  2. Choose Google Drive (OAuth).
  3. Authorize with your Google account and select the files or folders you want to ingest.
  4. Save your connector — and you’re done.

You’ll then be able to use this connector as a source in any pipeline, where Vectorize will ingest and chunk your selected files using your preferred strategy (sentence-based, paragraph-based, etc.). All updates in Google Drive are monitored in real time, so your index stays fresh.

Still Need the Service Account Option?

It’s still available — and still a good choice for org-wide connectors or backend automations where OAuth doesn’t fit.

We’ve moved it under the new Google Drive (Advanced) group in the connector catalog. Just look for the Service Account card there.

As before, files must be explicitly shared with the service account’s email address to grant access.

Ready to Try It?

You can start using the new OAuth connector today from the Source Connectors page in your Vectorize workspace.
